Nizamuddin Congregation: It Was Dangerous And Criminal Act, Says Aparna Sen
The congregation at the Tablighi Jamaat centre in Nizamuddin in March has drawn flaks from all corners. And to join the latest is director Aparna Sen who strongly condemned it and called it a criminal act. There has been a spike in a large number of COVID-19 cases across the country.

Director Aparna Sen took to her official Twitter handle and wrote, “The Jamat gathering was a dangerous &  criminal act & must not go unpunished! Yes, I am a secularist & a liberal, but I cannot support any act that goes against the laws of  my country by anyone, whether they be Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Jew, Sikh, Aethist, Agnostic or whatever!”

At least 2,000 people, including foreigners and Indians from across the country, had stayed at the Nizamuddin of Tablighi Jamaat from March 1-15 and attended the event.

Meanwhile, Aparna Sen’s last film Ghawre Bairey Aaj was appreciated by everyone. The film has been screened at many prestigious international and national film festivals. The film stars Jisshu Sengupta, Tuhina Das and Anirban Bhattacharya. The film talks about the current socio-political situation of the nation.

The original novel was set in pre-independent India in the time of Bengal’s partition but Aparna Sen has shifted the story to the current time. The story has three central characters Nikhilesh, his wife Bimala and his revolutionist friend Sandip. Sandip has a contradictory nature compared to Nikhilesh, he is more radical and active and Bimala gets easily attracted towards him for this. It leads to an extramarital love triangle.
